Interactive Donor Reports for Revolutionary Healthcare Initiatives

We brought a more contemporary, streamlined approach to Penn Medicine’s annual progress reports so donors could see the ground-breaking medical research their support is making possible.

Development teams across the University of Pennsylvania Health System are responsible for securing funding for monumental research initiatives to revolutionize healthcare and, in particular, cancer treatment. Another priority is making their impact reports as forward-thinking as the organization itself.

Casual Astronaut partners with the Basser Center for BRCA, Abramson Cancer Center and the Perelman School of Medicine to create engaging and interactive digital impact reports that offer key audiences — patients and donors — a dynamic way to see Penn Medicine’s contributions to healthcare.

Basser Center for BRCA Annual Report

The Basser Center for BRCA at Penn Medicine requested that C/A modernize their annual progress report and streamline the process they had in place to create it. We recommended producing a digital, interactive progress report that offered Basser’s key audiences (donors and patients) a flexible way to consume information through clear and clever UX design and digital-first content. C/A’s first report for the Basser Center in 2019 showed a 200% increase in unique page views and an average time on page of 13 minutes — a 150% increase over the previous year.

Abramson Cancer Center Progress Report

C/A worked with the Abramson Cancer Center at Penn Medicine to transform their comprehensive and sprawling print publication into more contemporary and accessible website. C/A researched, reported, wrote and edited over 16,000 words of editorial copy, detailing the groundbreaking advancements that were achieved throughout the institution. The site’s design broke each chapter into more manageable highlights, letting users dive deeper into the content that interested them. Featuring a dynamic timeline of FDA approvals, infographics and an interactive campus map, the site was designed to be responsive on all devices and AAA accessibility.

Perelman School of Medicine Donor Microsite

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Perelman School of Medicine’s (PSOM) naming and to continue to engage the school’s top benefactors, C/A partnered with the school to create a microsite that communicated how the Perelman family’s transformative gift directly impacted the organization’s progress of the last decade — from research breakthroughs, FDA approvals and faculty awards to growth on campus and financial aid. The microsite encapsulated the innovation the benefactors enabled through dynamic design while maintaining the tradition and guidelines of the Penn Medicine brand. The site was designed for optimization across all devices, and featured a timeline of the school’s major milestones as well as infographics, video integration and an interactive campus map.
