Helping the Top-Ranked Children’s Hospital Create a First-Class Publication
The researchers and MDs at Boston Children’s Hospital are doing big things — and it was time for BCH Trust’s magazine to do big things, too.
Boston Children’s Hospital Trust came to C/A with a two-part query: They wanted us to help streamline the production process for their Spirit of Giving publication, and to elevate (and simplify) that publication’s design. As we familiarized ourselves with the impressive work being done at the hospital, which is ranked as the number one pediatric hospital by U.S. News & World Report, our design direction began to take form. We knew we needed to celebrate the extraordinary — extraordinary people, extraordinary research, extraordinary results — and avoid visual noise, getting the design out of the way of the captivating content. Compelling, people-focused photography took center stage, supported by bold, sophisticated typography and plenty of room to breathe.
After publishing our first redesigned issue, we got to work on our next BCHT charge: a 2019 donor impact report. Currently in development, this piece will seek to follow the spirit of the new Spirit of Giving, celebrating the larger-than-life accomplishments of a life-giving institution.
